A sanitary sewer overflow has occurred along Columbia Street near the North Farm Road intersection in the City of Oconto Falls.
The overflow along Columbia Street occurred from approximately 12 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2021 until 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2021. Total estimated volume spilled is 1,000-2,000 gallons.
The overflow resulted from a force main breaking at the Columbia Street Lift Station, causing raw sewage to seep out of the ground and onto the soil surface as well as some runoff down the curb line and into the storm sewer catch basin.
Oconto Falls Water & Light responded to the incident and stopped the overflow. A temporary line was set up for the rest of the evening to prevent any more flow from reaching the surface. Oconto Falls Water & Light is taking all necessary steps to limit any public health hazard or potentially harmful effects on the environment.
