Commission President, James Kardoskee, was honored with the Community Service Award as Oconto Falls Municipal Utilities celebrates 90 years of service.
Oconto Falls Municipal Utilities, the community’s locally owned, not-for-profit municipal electric utility, participated in the WPPI Energy Annual Meeting on Sept. 15, 2022, in Middleton, Wis. The utility is a member-owner of WPPI Energy, a not-for-profit wholesale energy provider and joint action agency.
Utility Commission President James Kardoskee received the WPPI Energy Community Service Award. The award recognizes employees who are showing growth and leadership with proven dedication to strategic initiatives within a utility.
“Jim has been a consistent voice for the utility throughout his years of service,” shared Greg Kuhn, utility manager for Oconto Falls Municipal Utilities. “Acting as commission president for 30 years, Jim is proud to admit a near perfect attendance record to Commission meetings.”
Oconto Falls Municipal Utilities is a proud member-owner of WPPI Energy. The utility also received recognition at the awards ceremony for reaching a significant anniversary.
“I’d like to extend my congratulations and appreciation to Oconto Falls Municipal Utilities for 90 years of service to their community,” said WPPI Energy Board Chair Jim Stawicki. “It’s a significant milestone and we’re happy to celebrate it with them today.”

“Our utility is owned by the local community, and I think that’s a big strength,” said Kuhn. “This milestone anniversary gives us the opportunity to reflect both on what has brought us to this point and what we want to achieve in the future.”
